The Beach’s Town Center Agency is thrilled to introduce: The Christmas Surfboards Artist Contest! This festive event invites talented local artists to turn 12 surfboards into unique, holiday-themed masterpieces that will brighten up our town’s holiday décor and celebrate our beachside spirit.
Contest Highlights:
- 12 Surfboards, 12 Unique Designs: Local artists will showcase their work on polyurethane surfboards, each approximately 8 feet long by 2 feet wide.
- Holiday Inspiration: Artists are encouraged to infuse holiday themes into their designs, bringing a splash of seasonal joy to the beach.
- Local Talent: Open to artists residing or displaying work in Greater Jacksonville, this contest is a chance to gain exposure and connect with the community.
- Eye-Catching Detail: Designs will adorn the front of the board, with a solid color back. The BTCA will apply a protective coating to ensure each artwork lasts throughout the season.
This contest builds on Beaches Town Center's beloved holiday surfboard tradition, joining our collection of 25 surfboards with fresh, festive designs.
“We're thrilled to launch this contest, combining our beach culture with holiday cheer,” said Kendra Robertson, President of BTCA. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for local artists to gain exposure and contribute to our community’s festive spirit.”
Glenn Shuck, BTCA Board Member, adds, "Jacksonville Beach has its ‘Deck the Chairs’ tradition with lifeguard chairs, and here at Beaches Town Center, we’re aiming to make holiday surfboards our signature! This contest gives us a chance to showcase our amazing local talent and bring something special to our holiday celebrations."
Important Dates and Details:
- Artwork Delivery & Installation: November 15, 2024.
- Compensation & Promotion: Selected artists will receive $300 for materials and time, plus a featured profile on the BTCA website.
