Virtual Author Event with The BookMark on 1.15, Feat. Olga Grushin & Karen Fowler

Award-winning author Olga Grushin will appear for The BookMark's virtual author event on Friday, January 15th at 7:00 PM, introducing her new book, The Charmed Wife. She will be in conversation with author Karen Fowler.

The Charmed Wife is a spellbinding, sophisticated literary fairy tale for the twenty-first century. Part dark epilogue to the renowned tale of Cinderella, part feminist revenge fantasy, Grushin's subversive fourth novel picks up with the eponymous heroine thirteen years after her marriage to Prince Charming brought her the seemingly perfect life—and the princess wants out. It's a captivating and propulsive psychological adventure that upends conventional wisdom about one of the most well-known stories in modern history, begging the question: What really comes after Happily Ever After?

Brimming with insights about love, desire, and romantic expectations, The Charmed Wife deconstructs traditional fairy tale tropes about marriage and happiness to deliver a fresh perspective on contemporary womanhood that could not be more timely.

Moscow-born Olga Grushin moved to the United States when she was eighteen. She is the author of three previous novels, Forty Rooms, The Line and The Dream Life of Sukhanov. Her debut novel, The Dream Life of Sukhanov won the New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award, and was one of The New York Times' Notable Books of the Year. Her work has been translated into sixteen languages.

Karen Fowler is the author of six novels, including Booker Prize Finalist and international bestseller We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, Wits End, and The Jane Austen Book Club.
